3-phase EV charging delivers up to 22kW — adding up to 120km of range per hour for compatible vehicles. If your Brisbane home has 3-phase power and your EV supports AC 3-phase charging, a 22kW wall charger is the fastest home charging solution available. Planning to purchase another EV?
Standard residential properties are supplied with single-phase power, which limits EV charging to 7kW — roughly 40–50km of range per hour. 3-phase power supplies electricity across three simultaneous phases, allowing a 22kW EV charger to deliver three times the power of a single-phase unit.
To charge at 22kW you need two things: a property with 3-phase power supply, and an EV that accepts 3-phase AC charging. Many modern EVs — including the Polestar 2, Rivian R1T, some Mercedes models, and others — support onboard 3-phase AC charging at 11kW or 22kW. We assess both your property supply and your vehicle's onboard charger spec before recommending a 3-phase installation.
Key points
Our technicians carry a wide range of spare parts and fix most faults on the spot.
A 7kW single-phase charger adds around 40–50km per hour. For high-mileage drivers, fleet vehicles, or large-battery EVs, that means waking up to a charge that's still incomplete.
Many EV owners don't realise their vehicle's onboard charger can accept 11kW or 22kW AC. If your EV supports 3-phase charging, a single-phase charger is artificially limiting your charge speed.
Most homes are supplied with single-phase power by default. Upgrading to 3-phase requires a new service cable from the street — we coordinate this with Energex and handle the switchboard work end-to-end.
A 22kW EV charger draws significant current. Older switchboards may lack the spare capacity or protective devices required. We assess load capacity and include any required upgrades in your quote.
For drivers covering 200km+ per day, a single-phase charger may not restore a full charge overnight. A 22kW 3-phase charger can fully charge most EVs in 3–5 hours.
Businesses with EV fleets, or households with two EVs, benefit significantly from 3-phase charging infrastructure — reducing queue time and maximising each vehicle's charge speed.
At 22kW, a 3-phase charger adds up to 120km of range every hour — three times faster than a standard 7kW single-phase charger.
Works with all vehicles that accept 3-phase AC charging — Polestar 2, Rivian R1T, Mercedes EQC, MG ZS EV, BYD Atto, and more.
22kW is the fastest single-point AC home charging available in Australia. Future-proof your home charging setup for your next EV as well as your current one.
If your switchboard or supply needs upgrading for 3-phase, we manage the entire process — Energex application, switchboard work, charger install and certificate.
3-phase charging suits commercial premises, apartment buildings and multi-EV households where fast turnaround is essential and downtime is costly.
All installations meet AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 3001 wiring rules. A QLD Certificate of Test is issued on completion for insurance and compliance records.

A new 3-phase circuit is run from your switchboard to the charger location, correctly sized for 22kW output and protected by a dedicated breaker.
A Type A RCBO is installed on the EV charger circuit for full compliance with Australian wiring rules and EV charger installation standards.
Standard installations include up to 15 metres of 3-phase cable from switchboard to charger. Additional runs are quoted transparently.
A lockable isolation switch is fitted adjacent to the charger, allowing safe de-energisation for maintenance or emergency isolation.
A Certificate of Test (Form 4) is issued on completion — required for insurance, warranty, and compliance documentation.
